LUXEON SunPlus LEDs are engineered to deliver the precise wavelengths of light needed to improve crop yield. SunPlus LEDs are purpose-built to enable ease of system design for horticulture applications, and they are the only LEDs binned and tested based on Photosynthetic Photon Flux (PPF).

The SunPlus Series includes three different packages. The LUXEON SunPlus 20 line of high-performance LEDs incorporate a single focal height and a variety of colors, enabling customized color-tunable solutions. They provide total spectrum control to optimize light output for each growth stage, maximizing crop yields and energy savings.

The SunPlus 35 line is the ideal solution for lighting placed a short distance from the plant canopy, as it radiates low heat and satisfies diverse plant lighting requirements.

Future Electronics Offers Low-Power, High-Precision Operational Amplifiers from Microchip

Montreal, Canada – April 19, 2018 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Microchip’s MCP6031 operational amplifier and Photodiode PICtail™ Plus Demo Board.

Future Electronics customers will benefit from the high accuracy and extended battery life delivered by these operational amplifiers. Microchip’s low-power Complementary Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor (CMOS) technology and implementation of non-volatile memory for in-package trimming enable the MCP6031/2/3/4 amplifiers’ extremely low offset. This minimizes error, especially at higher gains.

Additionally, with an operating voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V, the amplifiers can run off of two 1.5V battery cells with full battery utilization. Their low power consumption extends battery life, and their rail-to-rail input/output structure enables greater dynamic range and better performance across the entire operating-voltage range.

The MCP6031 Photodiode PICtail™ Plus Demo Board is also available from Future Electronics. It supports the Microchip MCP6031 high precision op amp, and uses a transimpedance amplifier as a sensor conditioning circuit, and a PIN photodiode (PNZ334) as a light detector. It also features test points for connecting lab equipment.

Future Electronics Introduces Industry’s First Dual-Mode Battery Charging IC from ROHM

Montreal, Canada – April 5, 2018 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, is very pleased to announce the immediate availability of ROHM’s BD99954GW/MUV dual-mode battery charging IC, a true first in the industry.

A growing number of portable devices, including notebook PCs, are adopting the USB Type-C PD standard that can charge up to 100W, providing a common charging platform. At the same time, wireless charging is gaining traction, increasing the demand to support both charging methods.

But delivering the wide power supply range required by USBPD requires an added boost function, and enabling two simultaneous charging methods to operate at the same time requires charge ICs and an MCU to control charge switching, presenting a significant barrier to introduction.

By combining its USBPD IC with proprietary semiconductor technologies, ROHM has met these needs, delivering dual-input charging ICs that support multiple power input sources.

The BD99954 delivers an output voltage between 3.07 and 19.2V to support 1-to-4-cell batteries through a buck-boost DCDC controller. On the input side, support for voltages between 3.8V and 25V is provided, covering the voltage range (5V to 20V) defined by USB PD. The industry’s first dual-input charging system can autonomously select from two inputs without an MCU and provide the necessary voltage and current to charge the battery.

The IC is also compatible with both USBPD and USB BC 1.2, facilitating configuration of dual-mode systems capable of simultaneous charging via USBPD, wirelessly, or from legacy USB adapters.
