Future Electronics Holds Expert Panel on Automating Transportation at AEU ‘19

Summary: Future Electronics hosted a keynote panel on embedded systems in transportation as part of the 2019 edition of Advanced Engineering University.

Montreal, Canada – October 19, 2019 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, hosted a keynote panel about automation in transportation on Tuesday, September 24th at their worldwide headquarters in Montreal, Canada.

As the world has become more automated, the use of electronics in vehicles, freight tracking, people movement, and logistics is expanding. From electric vehicles replacing combustion engines, object detection for driverless cars, to real time information on product location and status, there are new opportunities in this rapidly evolving market.

“Embedded Systems in Transportation: Automating the Movement of People and Things” explored these changes, and the new challenges they bring for customers’ and suppliers’ engineering staffs, including new certifications, safety issues with lives on the line, and dealing with an industry that is very different from the traditional embedded customer.

The expert panel featured senior representatives from Future’s suppliers, including John Johnson, Principal Market Development Engineer for the Powertrain and Safety division at STMicroelectronics, Shawn Slusser, Vice President of the Automotive Division at Infineon, Jay Nagle, Automotive Product Marketing Engineer at ON Semiconductor, and Michael Troman, Senior Manager of ICT Global Distribution and Inside Sales at TE Connectivity.

Embedded Systems in Transportation was part of Advanced Engineering University (AEU) ’19, Future’s premier event for training the members of its Advanced Engineering Group on the latest technologies and applications from their valued partner suppliers.  AEU is an opportunity for Future’s Field Engineers to expand their technical knowledge and experience so they can help customers succeed in getting their products into production.

Future’s full Advanced Engineering team for the Americas attended AEU ‘19, along with Advanced Engineering staff from various offices around the world.
